Trick-or-Treating

Quite a while ago, completely out of the blue, Samantha decided that she wanted to be a peacock for Halloween. I'm not sure where this idea came from, we did see one at the zoo this summer, but I wanted to oblige her creativity; even if it meant a lot of work to pull the costume together. I spent a lot of time on that costume and it was worth every second because she was THRILLED with it!

And I have to say that she was the cutest peacock I have ever seen. In fact, it warmed my heart this morning (2 days after Halloween) when she said to me, "Momma, everybody loved my costume, huh?"

Sophia was a spider and she was just as adorable (and nice and warm too).

We took the girls to about 9 houses in our neighborhood this year. The weather was beautiful, but it was starting to get a little chilly. Besides, it was more important to us to simply take them to our immediate neighbors -- ones that know them and would be waiting to see them.

I love this picture because it looks like Sophia is trying to hold onto her sister while they are walking:

Trick or treat!

All in all, it was a very special holiday because of the excitement that Samantha had for it this year. We decorated the house, baked cupcakes, did craft projects, etc., all in an attempt to make it last as long as we could.

And now, we are gearing up to celebrate Samantha's 3rd birthday in just a couple of weeks. The fish-themed party prep is well-underway and I can't wait to see how excited Sam will get over that!
