Sophia's 18 Month Check-Up
I took Sophia for her 18 month check-up this week. For the first time, she was able to stand-up on the "big" scale to be weighed. No more sitting on the baby scale! (And was she ever excited about that!).
She now weighs 22 lbs. 9 oz., which puts her in the 50th percentile for her weight. She has gained three pounds since our last visit, three months ago. I attribute this nice weight gain to the massive amounts of milk that that girl can chug. In fact, I did ask her doctor if it was alright that Sophia drinks between 1 to 1.5 gallons of whole (organic) milk a week. She assured me that it is the best thing for her to drink and that she needs all of those fats for her brain development right now. We will plan to switch her to 2% milk when she turns two.
Sophia is 31.75" long, putting her in the 75th percentile for her height. She has grown almost 2 inches in the last three months.
Sophia still experiences major anxiety every time we enter the exam room. She simply does not want anyone touching her (the nurse, the doctor, etc.), and cries huge alligator tears everytime. And that is before she even gets her shots! I'm not sure what the reason is for this; she is typically quite friendly and very social. Hopefully this is just a phase that she is going through ...
After we got home from the appointment, Sam was inspired to give Sophia another check-up.
Here she is, telling Sophia to sit still because she is going to listen to her heart:
And then Sam took the temperature of Sophia's finger!
And just because ... My beautiful first-born ... who is looking so grown-up to me these days.
