Jack's First Encounter with the Lake

We've been down to the lake a lot with Jack -- more times than we can count last summer and several times already this season.  But Jack had never experienced the lake before.  He sat in the sand with me a couple of weeks ago and I spent endless minutes working with him NOT to put the sand and stones in his mouth.  But the water ... that is something new to him.

We took the kids down to the beach this last weekend and Steve immediately placed Jack (in his new bathing suit from Aunt Minnie) directly in the lake.  I barely had a moment to grab my camera and capture his reaction.

It's safe to say that he liked it.  Yes, he enjoyed playing with the seaweed and sand and rarely attempted to put any of it in his mouth (thank goodness!).

He stayed quite entertained for about 20 minutes, until the water became just too cold for him.  That water STILL has to warm up ...  Maybe by the middle of June, it might be a little more tolerable!

It didn't seem to bother Samantha one bit ...

Sophia spent a little bit of time in the water ...

But only to fill her buckets to make "soup" and sand castles up on the shore:

Jack loved watching the boats speed by:

He splashed a bit -- like he does in the bath tub:

And when the waves from the boats moved him, Jack let them cascade over his feet, creating one of the most beautiful pictures:
