Each holiday season, our elf named Christmas Catherine comes back with a breakfast for the kids. They look forward to it beginning in November, trying to *guess* just when she might be arriving with it. She never comes back on the same date -- it keeps things exciting and allows a little bit of flexibility in scheduling. For example, this year she arrived on a Saturday morning (December 3rd). It was ingenious planning on "her" part because the kids weren't rushed to get out the door to school that day. They were able to take in every little detail of her arrival ...
The menu consisted of mini donuts and muffins, applesauce, orange juice and candy canes (for later).
She was also kind enough to set the table with new Christmas plates and cups for the kids, along with a name tag place setting.
Helping themselves while being very careful not to touch the elf. They know and understand that touching her may make her lose her magic.
Patiently waiting with those big blue eyes to be served some more food:
Reading the letters on his place setting to confirm that that was the seat that Christmas Catherine had chosen for him:
Another (successful) North Pole Breakfast in the books ...
Since then, CC has arrived each morning doing something that makes the kids laugh. Jack is the MOST INTO it this year, laughing (actually, more like giggling) whenever he finds her and wondering aloud "what she might get into again the next day." He likes to have me take pictures of her and then call his dad or his grammy and tell them all about it.
This is such a magical time of year ...!
