Valentine's Day 2012

We started out our Valentine's Day with a few pictures. I can't seem to resist taking pictures of the girls together every holiday, and this one was equally special because it was Sophia's first Valentine's Day.

And as you can see, she was pretty excited about it!

It just amazes me how easily she smiles for the camera. Sophia sees me get it out and turn it on, and she's already showing her pearly whites (all four of them!):

After our weekly trip to Meijer, we came home and unloaded the groceries. I mentioned to Sam that there was a surprise waiting for each of the girls in honor of Valentine's Day and she was so excited. (Sophia, on the other hand, was about "at the end of her rope" because she missed her morning nap and was making it perfectly clear to me that she was D.O.N.E.).

She tried to fake a little enthusiasm over her package:

But you can tell from the look on her face that she had been crying and was just plain worn out. I mean, it's exhausting riding in a carseat during a shopping trip ...

The highlight of Samantha's gift was this small container of plastic dinosaurs -- she LOVES dinosaurs!

Sophia even perked up at the sight of those reptiles:

After that, we quickly ate lunch and Sophia went down for a much-needed nap. Meanwhile, Sam stayed pretty occupied with her dinosaurs ...

Sam also got some learning books (we call them "homework" books) and she's pretty happy about those too. I try to work with her on her words and addition whenever Sophia is resting. It gives us some quality time together and I like that she's learning in the process.

I had to teach last night, so Steve spent the evening with his "little Valentines" and loved every minute of it. Luckily, I didn't have to work too late, so I still got to tuck Sam into bed and give my littlest valentine an extra kiss.
