Easter Sunday 2012

On Easter Eve, Samantha helped set up the girls' Easter baskets on the dining room table for the Easter Bunny to find when he came to visit. She also set out a special snack for him (I was only going to put out a carrot, but she was insistent that he would also need some apple slices and some cider).

We also chose a special book to read that night, in honor of his visit : "The Tale of Peter Rabbit."

The next morning, the girls set to work finding all of the eggs that the Easter Bunny had hidden around our house. Sam even commented on how tall he must be because some of them were up pretty high!

Sophia stayed close to the ground (obviously!) and played with the few that she could get her hands on:

Posing for the obligatory photo for Momma:

After the egg hunt, the girls got to see what the Easter Bunny had filled their baskets with:

Perhaps Samantha was MOST excited with her new bathrobe (she didn't have one, and always likes to wear mine when she gets out of the bathtub):

Sophia took a moment to check out her basket ...

... before we put it on the floor and let her have a look at everything:

Samantha was pretty excited about the fact that Sophia received her first toothbrush. After all, she now has 7 teeth!

Before breakfast, Sam took some time to empty all of the eggs from the egg hunt:

Sophia stayed entertained just simply holding onto a few of the eggs:

Then, before our guests arrived for our Easter Sunday lunch, I took a moment to capture the girls in their dresses.

Sam seems to just LOVE putting all of the plastic eggs in their cartons and taking them back out again.

And she's so serious about it.

Look at those teeth coming in!

I asked her where her teeth are (and she knows):

My girls:

Grandpa brought some gifts with him and the girls had an absolute blast opening them and playing with them.

My blue-eyed girl:

And my brown-eyed girl:

Overall, it was a wonderful holiday. I love watching the excitement on the girls' faces (Sophia senses Sam's enthusiasm and tries to duplicate it now), for it brings me such joy. I treasure each of these memories and hope that the magic of holidays will last forever for them ...
