Getting the Hang Of It ...

In the last week or so, Sophia has started pulling up on more and more things -- and then using them as supports, instead of immediately falling back down again.  This is a sign that her legs are definitely getting stronger, though she still doesn't have a desire to walk yet.

Just look at that smile (and nevermind the large gash on her cheek; she woke up one day last week with that and it has finally healed):

Sometimes Sam has a natural tendency to act as a "mother hen," keeping an eye on Sophia so that she doesn't fall or get into too much trouble.  She also serves as a cheerleader, encouraging Sophia to stay standing and congratulating her on her accomplishment.

Sophia's chair was sitting in the hallway yesterday afternoon after our outside picnic and she was tempted to pull up on it as she was strolling by:

Later on in the day, she was creating a masterpiece in Sam's play kitchen and she stood there for quite some time:

I am excited about Sophia's new-found interest in standing up on her own.  For a while, we were a little concerned that the strength in her legs was lacking, but she is getting the hang of putting pressure on her legs now.  Soon, she will muster the strength to start walking ...
