The Sun and Sand

The beach ... It just goes without saying that we spend quite a bit of time down there.  Usually, I manage to take my camera with me because I love capturing the looks on the girls' faces; they are just completely at ease down by the water's edge.

Sometimes, I opt to just leave the camera at home and bask in the feeling of just "being there."  Those times are rare, though; I guess that I just don't want to miss a single minute of my girls growing up and the pictures insure that I will have each of those memories.

Learning to use a shovel to dig deep into the sand:

The girls work well together -- Sam always brings the pails of water ...

And then Sophia spends quite a bit of time making "soup."

Samantha loves being in the water:

And Sophia does too, but she never ventures any further into the water than the immediate shore (and I am grateful for that right now):

My little walker, getting adventurous:

Skipping stones:

Sophia loves the feel of the sand.  This surprises me because she never wants anything on her hands or fingertips whenever she is eating or crawling around on the floor.  She will promptly stop and show me her hands -- gesturing that she wants them cleaned off immediately.

Total concentration for the construction of a masterpiece in the background:

And our trip to the beach is never complete without spending a little time on the playground:
