The Downtown Library

One morning last week, Jack was fighting his morning nap and the girls were restless to be able to do something "fun."  On a whim, I grabbed Jack out of his crib and told the girls to put their shoes on.  We were heading into town to go to the post office (I needed to mail out a large business envelope and was in dire need of stamps).  Now, while this is not fun by any means, it did mean that we were escaping from the house and going for a drive.  My hope was that Jack would settle down on the ride and be able to rest when we got back home.

After we were done at the post office, the girls asked if we could go to the park ... located right across the street.  Sophia was wearing her nice sandals and therefore not appropriately dressed for running through dirt, and I didn't have the stroller with me for Jack.  Nope, not going to happen.

But, I did suggest that we could go to the library.  I hadn't really planned on it; Jack was still in his PJs from my attempt with a morning nap, but I figured that this would be a good idea.

It turned out to be a great time.

The girls spent over a half hour working puzzles at the table in the kids' section while Jack looked at books with me and crawled around.  We ended up leaving with about 7 books for the girls to read at home and three happy kids.

Sophia has really gotten the hang of puzzles lately.  She can easily do 40-piece puzzles and has moved onto 60 piece ones at home.

Sam is a whiz with puzzles too.  She commonly works on 200 or 300-piece puzzles and we recently finished a 1000-piece one!

Checking out some new books with varying textures:

As soon as we got back home, there wasn't enough time for a nap for Jack so we ate lunch early and went for a walk.  Needless to say, Jack was definitely tired by the time I settled everyone in for their afternoon naps.
