For most of the day yesterday, the weather was pretty dreary -- rainy and quite windy. It was on this "not so appropriate morning" that I opted to go to the grocery store with the girls. We were in dire need of the main staples in this household (milk, bread, bananas), and it was the only morning early this week that would work with my schedule.
Sam was extremely excited about the shopping trip because I told her that she could wear her new raincoat and rainboots that she got from my parents for her birthday last Fall.
I have to say that we lucked out with the drizzling rain because while it was definitely misting while I was loading/unloading the groceries, the biggest downpours seemed to only be when I was driving!
Once we got home, I had my own little helper who seemed quite intent on unloading the bags herself:
She missed her morning nap, so can tell that she is tired out. Shopping takes its toll on ALL of us!
After the girls were done with their afternoon naps, the sun seemed to peek out of the clouds, thus inviting us out for a quick walk before Steve got home from work. Sophia rode in the stroller and Sam rode her tricycle.
As soon as Steve pulled in the driveway, Sam went running to meet him (as usual). And then he surprised her by asking if she would like to help him with a very special task -- sprinkling grass seed. Frankly, there isn't anything that girl wouldn't do for her Daddy.
Watching as the wind scattered the seeds:
It was a nice ending to what started out as a very bleak and dreary day. We are looking forward to some warmer days this week. It seems to do all of us quite bit of good to get out into the fresh air ...
