Steve lowered the crib down again yesterday. This needed to happen, as Sophia has been standing up in there on a regular basis. I feel better about the fact that she won't be able to climb out now, even if she tries, but was shocked at how far down it is now. (Steve chose to lower it ALL THE WAY down; we never lowered it that far with Sam. It was a gradual thing with her, and before we even made it to the bottom, we transitioned her into her "big girl bed").

Two days ago, Sophia was capable of climbing up exactly one stair. Yesterday afternoon, I was in her bedroom upstairs putting clothes away. I heard her familiar little voice louder than I would have expected and peeked my head out her door to see that she had climbed, at record speed, almost to the top of the stairs all by herself! With my heart palpitating, I shifted into gear and hightailed it over there, just in time to see her get to the top and zip into her bedroom where some of her toys are.
It's like she became an expert stair climber overnight. Nothing will stop her now.
I have at least three gray hairs now, as we try to devise a system to prevent her from going up there on her own. Our gate doesn't reach the distance across these wide stairs and the rungs don't provide any support for a gate anyways. My engineer of a husband is working on it.

I made the statement that as soon as Sophia reached 20 lbs, that we would transition her into her "big girl carseat." We are about a half pound shy of that, but the time had come. I was tired of listening to her
My parents purchased a new carseat for her as a Christmas gift (much like they did for Sam). We are so grateful for that and it was a wonderful idea! Steve put it together last night with his "helpers," and Sophia is one happy little girl!
Checking out the big box that has been sitting in our basement until we were officially ready for it:
Pulling it out of the box (it is almost as if they are experts at this whole unpacking thing):
Testing out everything:
A quick photo of the workers:
Sam, putting the headrest on for her sister:
So excited about the new carseat:

In other news, the tomato plants are growing too! Yesterday, the girls and I put cages around the plants to support their growth.
Posing with the new cages:
Whew! If things don't slow down a little bit, I am going to be one tired momma before the summer season has even really started. It's hard work keeping up with my growing girls!
