Mother's Day 2014

Mother's Day was very special for me this year.  We didn't make any distinct plans; rather, we just let the day unfold however it did and let the girls have a say in most of our activities.  It was nice to enjoy the absolutely beautiful weather and celebrate as a mom of three this year.

In the morning, we played outside and started to decide where we should go for lunch.  I wasn't sure exactly what I was hungry for, so when Samantha suggested that we go to Chili's, I thought that it was a great idea (they have a varied menu).  Before we left for our celebratory lunch, we took a few pictures -- of course!

At lunch, sitting like a big boy in the high chair:

After lunch, we made an impromptu stop at a playground and the kids played for almost an hour.  It was at this point that I deeply regretted not bringing my regular camera with me (note to this momma: begin packing your camera for all trips outside of the house).  Regardless, I managed to take several pictures -- with my phone -- so that I would have the memories.

Sitting pretty:

Swinging with Momma:

Steve had thrown some bubbles in the van before we left, so Sophia spent some of her time blowing bubbles ...

Jack enjoys swinging by himself, too:

Going down the slide together:

Spending some time on the grass, just watching his sisters.  (Jack was starting to get tired at this point).

Afterwards, we came home and the kids took great naps, while I watched the Tigers play baseball.  I also did a little bit of weeding in our front flower beds.  After a quick dinner, we headed down to the park/beach and let the kids play until they were dirty and wet ...  The water is still very chilly (it will probably be cold until June), but the girls didn't seem to mind wading out to bring back buckets of water for their "pond."

And Jack?  Well, he got his first experience with sand that day.  We sat on a towel and I supervised while he tried to eat the sand and rocks.  I think that he understands now that sand has far better uses and next time, I will be bringing some beach toys just for him!
