Snow Days of Winter

This season has not been as snowy and cold as some of our past Michigan winters.  The lake is not frozen deep enough yet for more than just walking on it, so the kids have not been out there ice fishing or even ice skating yet.  A nice storm blew in over the weekend though -- canceling weekend activities such as the basketball games for Samantha.

The kids took full advantage of that and dressed warmly and headed out with their sleds to the hill in the back yard.

Goggles were not totally necessary, but this girl is never one to miss an opportunity to accessorize.

I'm pretty sure that Samantha and her long (giraffe) legs grow faster than this tree each year.

In his happy place -- outside in nature with at least one camo item on.

Later in the afternoon, while Jimmy was resting, the older kids headed across the street to dig snow tunnels.  The sun was covered with clouds and more snow, but we managed to capture a few moments of their fun.

SO much work.

Progress being made.

Probably the perfect size for Jack ...

But not so much for Sam ...

Possibly Sophia.

And before long, Jimmy was ready to join in.  He spent his time shoveling a path (in the grass!) ...
Ha!
