A few random pictures from our week ...
I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again: Samantha is such a great big sister. I could never have imagined how natural it would be for her to step in whenever I ask her to help me with Sophia. She entertains her and makes her laugh, right out loud! And she also watches her very closely to make sure that she is never in any eminent danger.
One day this week, she even helped give Sophia her bottle (of course, it was right after they got up in the morning, before I tamed Sam's wild curls)!

Sophia is getting better at using a sippy cup. She will at least drink out of it, but only if I hold it for her.
Here she is with her sippy cup close-by, "two-fisting" her snack:
What can I say -- she's pretty serious about her food!

My mom came to stay for a few days this week, and she brought the girls some special St. Patrick's Day surprises. Sam LOVED the noisemaker (I, myself, could do without it!!!).

One day this week, I put the girls in dresses and we headed out to run a few errands. I tried to get a cute picture of them sitting together, but it is getting pretty hard these days to get BOTH of them to cooperate, simultaneously. Here are some of the outtakes:
Sometimes, Sophia needs a little prop for encouragement:
A good smile from Sam ... but nothing from Sophia:
And then, the finale ... Sophia teasing her sister:
Oh well, you can't always get a nice, staged picture of two very busy little girls!

While we were out shopping that day, my mom surprised Sam with a few more additions to the stable that Aunt Chele had gotten her for her birthday. Sam is SO excited about the ducks, geese, pig, dog and new horses. In fact, before dinner that night, she proudly set everything up on the couch (complete with an eggplant and broccoli for the horses to eat!):

One of the tasks that my mom helped me with while she was here was sorting through all of the baby clothes and packing away the ones that don't fit Sophia. Then, we organized the ones that Sophia will wear this Spring/Summer and got those set-up in her dresser drawers. It was a HUGE accomplishment!
In the meantime, Sophia entertained herself quite well with one of the empty tote boxes:

Samantha decided that she wanted to "make music" with Sophia this morning, so she got out a bowl and a couple of utensils and showed her sister just how to do it. I couldn't resist taking a picture.
She took a quick intermission to use the bathroom, and on her way in there, she shouted over her shoulder, "Do not put my drums away, Momma!" Apparently these were the "drums" that she was referring to:

Sophia has really taken an interest in books over the last couple of weeks. She will open them and point to the pictures. And, she often pushes a book into your hand, as if she is telling you that she would like you to read it to her.
Hopefully, she will learn to love books just as much as her momma and sister do. The Sesame Street book that she is "reading" in the picture above was one of Samantha's favorites when she was little too.
